¡¡¡¡¡¡¡YA TENGO TRES AÑOS !!!!!!

Soy un blog . Nací del sentimiento y amor a las labores . Mi mamá quiso que naciera tal que un día como ayer, 11 de junio. La pobre anda algo despistada y justo hoy se ha dado cuenta que tenía que haberme felicitado ayer, cosas de madres, ¡ tienen tantas cosas en la cabeza ! Bueno, pero yo la perdono porque la quiero mucho.
Me puso hace tres años el nombre " Las labores de Mercedes en España ". Así era como la conocían a ella fuera, allá lejos en el extranjero. Es importante saber de donde uno es y lo que significa.
Luego, como fuí creciendo, la ropa se me quedo pequeña y quiso darme un aire nuevo. Por eso dejó de utilizar " ... en España ".
Ahora ya soy más mayor ¡ qué bien me siento ! Tengo más claro lo que quiero y sé como expresarlo . A veces, cuando eres pequeñito quieres decir cosas ,pero no pronuncias bien o se te traban las palabras. No todo el mundo entiende lo que quieres decir . Un rollo.
Siempre he tenido muchas ganas de aprender, incluso desde que nací. Inquieto, con ganas de hacer muchas cosas y divertirme, eso sobre todo..... Me enamoran las labores y con el tiempo, también las cosas que rodean ese mundillo. Con orgullo puedo decir que creo que ya tengo personalidad. Sí , ya sé parece un poco pronto , pero como dice la canción ...podría cantar " .... me siento seguro ....."

Quiso mi mamá que tuviera otro hermano. Ese es un poco raro. Algo loquillo diría yo . Le van más los papeles , las pinturas..... esas cosas que lo dejan todo perdido y luego hay que emplear tiempo en recogerlo todo. El caso es que mi hermano,Alterado , empezó compartiendo mi tiempo y finalmente tuvo que tener su espacio propio. Moverse con libertad. Decía que siempre estaba restándole importancia .......pero nos llevamos bien. Nuestra mami intenta estar con nosotros sin descuidar al uno o al otro..... Yo la veo feliz, aunque a veces echo de menos el tiempo que me dedicaba antes. ¡ Ufff, casi nos veíamos a diario !!! Ahora dice que tiene obligaciones que no puede descuidar por nada del mundo..... Yo la entiendo, por eso le dejo que venga a charlar un rato cuando puede.

Tengo muchos amigos, blogs como yo. Algunos son como hermanos de espíritu .....otros muy pequeñitos, que están aprendiendo y tienen mucho interés por divertirse y hacerse muuuuuy grandes , otros que viven muuuuuuy lejos y pasan por aquí de vez en cuando.
Cuando yo nací, la cosa era más aburrida , eramos poquitos y además tenía que entender otros blogs en otros idiomas y ahora ¡ hay un montón que hablan mi propia lengua! ¿ no es genial ?
Sin embargo , no me da tiempo a jugar con todos y saludarles. Lo paso fenomenal cuando me enseñan lo que han hecho , cómo han descubierto juegos nuevos. ¡ Hay que ver lo importante que es la amistad ! Bueno, ellos ya saben que estoy ahí sin necesidad de visitarles todos y cada uno de los días.

El año que viene , espero cumplir cuatro años con la misma ilusión , intensidad ¡ y ganas de que lleguen las vacaciones !

Mi mamá tomó hace poco una foto de unos ramos de flores .Esta mujer tenía que haber sido botánica..... Es verdad que las flores tienen algo que no se puede explicar... su belleza, su delicadeza, su simpleza, su perfume ....

Traditional Minimalism

Recently Traditional Home interviewed James Radin, an interior designer and set designer for the popular movie "Something's Gotta Give". They discussed his idea of "traditional minimalism." Here is what he had to say:

The key is to start with the interior architecture — cabinetry, moldings, the physically immovable part of the whole thing. A lot of great old houses were very rich in wall and ceiling paneling, interesting floors. Even the pantries would have great detailing like beautiful tiles. Get the interior architecture right, and then fill in with comfortable furnishings.

That restricted sort of palette is conscious. The initial impression is that it's plain, but it's a house that slowly reveals itself to you — so it stays interesting when you live there. There are a lot of subtle variations in textures and colors — mostly blues, whites, beiges — and lots of different patterns in the fabrics, the rugs, the spongeware. That's what saves it from blandness and makes it come to life. Often when people decorate with the blue-and-white look it fails, because it's just blue and white. It's like dressing all in black. It works if there's black patent with black silk with black wool...the subtle variations that I mentioned
The main thing was that they wanted comfortable, easy, usable rooms. Nothing formal. In the living room, we have elegant wood paneling, but an eclectic mix of furnishings — all slightly mismatched — to take away any stuffiness. You'll see that the master bedroom has a touch of formality to it. We were after a crisper, dressier effect there. It's a little fancier than anything downstairs because it's more private, so things could be more fragile.

The clients wanted the look of an old-fashioned country kitchen, so we used old-style lights, bead-board on the ceiling, elaborate crown molding. I've done this kind of kitchen 50 times, and one day I asked myself, 'What is it that makes it work?' And I think it's about the underlying quality — the nickel faucets, the Carrara marble, and so forth. Each thing is so carefully considered. And it's also about the simplicity. It's very controlled, not tchotchked-up.

Intercambio Quaker ,nº 16

Primaveral , primaveral era la propuesta del intercambio que hemos realizado en Legacy Embroiderers, una vez más guiado por Nancy Kuelbs. La cosa no estaba muy concretada en tonos : libertad en colores de nuestras flores favoritas.
Pronto recibí el mío a manos de Gwen L. Justamente había sido también su compañera en el primer intercambio que se hizo. Lo acompañaba una estupenda tarjeta hecha por ella en scrap.

Esta vez, ella ha bordado un gracioso conejo para componer un medallón quaker y convertirlo en un pinkeep,¡ que está
perfecto ! ¡Gracias Gwen, has conseguido aumentar mi colección que hasta ahora sólo era de dos pinkeeps !

Por mi parte, le preparé un bolsito bordado en lino 30 ct Creme de Menthe y con hilo tintado NN 392 , un suave pastel multicolor. El modelo , una vez más del libro referencia entre las quakeras Pattern Book of Ackworth School.

Dentro utilicé tela rosa vichi , una puntilla para el borde y la misma puntilla doble como asa.
Sobre este asa coloqué dos botones uno sobre otro .

Este intercambio se ha convertido " como parte de la familia ". Es una cita obligada que espero con cada estación

Do you ever have the feeling that maybe you were born in the wrong era? My friends have long suggested that I would have made a perfect 1950's housewife and I can see their point. I am great at taking care of other people. I love to cook and throw parties. I can sew and actually enjoy cleaning. I also happen to look great in a cinched waist dress. It's no wonder I became an interior designer. It's the closest career choice. It's really too bad I don't have somone to greet at the door with a martini at the end of the day. Cocktail hour at home seems infinitely more elegant than happy hour at a bar these days! Anyone else feel the same way?

This much pretty much sums up how it felt in New York City today. Even in a white sleeveless dress, I was wilted by the time I got to work. I expect this in August but definitely not June! So tonight, I'm going to enjoy my cool air conditioned apartment while eating Haagen-Dazs Extra Rich Light Mint Chip ice cream and reading new July magazines. Hopefully, I'll be refreshed and ready to write a better post tomorrow! Stay cool!

One of my biggest regrets in life is that for all the years I lived in Boston, I never visited Nantucket. Terrible. I know. I'm ashamed. But it's not easy to get to and requires ferry reservations, so I just always went to the Cape. The photos of this home on Nantucket Harbor that I found online at House Beautiful are just the motivation I need to plan a trip as soon as possible. It is the perfect example of decorating with nautical accents that is so charming and makes me miss New England, especially when it's 90+ degrees in New York. Hope you enjoy them as much as I did!
