COMO DAR AMPLITUD VISUAL A LA SALA COMEDOR



Si estan buscando que su comedor y/o sala se vea mas grande, pueden dar un efecto visual con un mural, gigantografía u obra de arte como ven en la foto.
Me encanta esta pintura de escalera, parece que hubiera unas cortinas y atras de ellas un jardín. Le da tanta profundidad al ambiente que realmente parece mas grande. Todo esta en elegir la imagen adecuada como en el ejemplo.

Sobre la foto: Encontrada en youkioske.com como Alegoría en el comedor. Muebles imperio sobre una alfombra de los años 40 de Real Fábrica de Tapices de Madrid, y como fondo, Merienda en La Martinica, un trampantojo homenaje a Josefina Bonaparte. Lo pintó Isabel Alonso. La lámpara es una pieza antigua de la Real Fábrica de Cristales de La Granja.

Happy Birthday Mrs. Herrera

Fashion designer Carolina Herrera celebrated her birthday this past Friday (71 is clearly the new 51!) and still looks just as chic as she did when she was a young girl. As you can tell from the photos, she found her style early on and stuck with it. She is the epitome of grace and elegance but she also looks like she knows how to have a good time. In a day when thigh baring dresses are the norm, she is and will always be my style idol! There is something to be said for not only acting like a lady but dressing like one too! Happy Birthday Mrs. Herrera!

Sister Parish Design: On Decorating

I was in High Point this past October when Sister Parish Design: On Decorating was released so I missed the fun launch party at Gerald Bland Antiques. I did stop by after though to pick up a copy and I am enjoying it immensely! The premise is similar to Mark Hampton On Decorating which was the inspiration but in this case, other interior designers, many of whom worked at Parish-Hadley, give the decorating advice. I'm often asked for recommendations for books that give good practical design advice and I can say that this one is now at the top of my list! I loved reading anecdotes from Mario Buatta, Albert Hadley, Bunny Williams, and Miles Redd, among others!

As I mentioned in my previous post, Gerald Bland's wife, Mita Corsini Bland painted the beautiful watercolor interiors for the book and they are just gorgeous! They were actually displayed for sale at the book party and if you're lucky, they might actually have a few left!
